Hoffert Boosts Outlook
May 1, 2007
STERLING, VA — Glenn Hoffert, the 4-time member of the Carl Spackler Open Championship, surprised everyone with his 5th straight signing to play golf in Michigan. Hoffert, a.k.a. Jim, will make the trip from northern Virginia and boasts a 18.7 stroke handicap.
The 2005 Crapper and owner of the 2005 Al Czverik Outfit is the 28th best player in Spackler History. He rocketed up the all-time list after an incredible 2006 tournament including a 4th place finish at the Neuse. The great tournament scorecard moved Hoffert 11 spots upward on the career performance list.
"It is great that my attendance is finally 100 percent," says Hoffert from his home in Virginia. "Things were awfully tricky this year. It is great to be back once again. All that is left is figuring out how to improve 3 more spots on the Leaderboard and getting a picture of Joe Paterno in my Golden Jacket."
Jim poured in a shocking 16 pars during the 54-hole tournament last June. "That was enough good holes to ensure a good tournament," says member Chris Philipsen. "The two surprise birdies moved his tournament finish from good to great. It was great to see Glenn finally have some success."
Hoffert will chase history at the Grande Golf Club where the fairways are wider than his power fade. Additional success must be found on the very tricky greens exceeding 140 feet in places.
Glenn signs as the 59th golfer to a very talented list of players. He plans to participate in the afternoon version of the practice round. There are 36 days before Round 1.
