OSTRANDER, OH — With Melick a no show it was up to Peter Minardi to carry the torch. And that he did, shooting a 59 in the opening practice round. When asked about his round Peter responded by saying "That is exactly how Melick would have done it. Come out put up some high scores get the high points then lay it into these guys when the tournament actually begins."
Eric Sullivan came out on fire, lighting up the fairways with his silky smooth swing. He also lit up the edges of the cups lipping out at least 1 putt on every hole. When asked about his performance he simply said "That is exactly how Melick would have done it. Come out put up some high scores get the high points then lay it into these guys when the tournament actually begins."
The third and final player in the opening practice round was Brian Flanagan. He came out on fire shooting 1 over on the first three holes but then went 9 over for the next three holes. Lucked out with a birdie on 7 then 6 over for the last 2 holes. When asked about his up and down round Flanagan responded by saying "That is exactly how Melick would have done it. Come out put up some high scores get the high points then lay it into these guys when the tournament actually begins."
So there you have it the opening practice round was a success the weather proved to be perfect, the beer was cold and the company outstanding. Lots of laughs were had and the winner of the line of the evening went to Sullivan when after an errant tee shot by Flanagan on number 8 went over a house. Sullivan told Flanagan to “say hello to the Rinebockers for me while you are looking for your ball.â€
