Taxi Service Added
May 23, 2007
BROOKLYN, MI — The Captains Club announced today that tournament services have been beefed up. D&M taxi service will be available at the tournament for $2.00 to $10.00 per ride. The announcement comes a couple of weeks after the tournament field returns to 64 players.
"Safety is always a primary concern for the tournament," says Greg Garrett, Vice President of Scoring. "We have worked out an agreement with our vendor and sober transportation will be available in the evenings."
The subsidized taxi service will be available Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights during posted times. There will be one or two cabs stationed in Brooklyn using a reasonable daily schedule. The cab fare is $8 to or from the Beach Bar and $10 to or from Jerry's Pub with a maximum of 4 riders.
"This is great news," said Scott Miller from Parkersburg, WV. "This is the green light to getting loopy."
The telephone number and daily schedule will be available inside the daily pairing sheets. Wednesday sheets will be available prior to the tournament.
The Captains Club did provide some additional information surrounding the taxi service. "We have two cabs on Saturday night after the Awards Presentation," said Garrett. "With 42 golfers requesting service at potentially the same time, the 20-minute round trips are expected to be back-to-back across 60 minutes. The first two cab rides are expected to begin two seconds after the presentation."
The vendor agreement includes an initial financial loss to the Carl Spacker Open of $100 per night. The fee will guaranteed revenue for the taxi company and also provide a fare subsidy. D&M Cab Company is setup financially to lose money after 12 round trip fares.
"The cab will not be available at unreasonable hours," said Garrett. "It will be everyone's responsibility to manage the schedule provided."
The tournament field and Captains Club has delivered one of the most impressive lists of entertainment and services every thought imaginable. The tournament begins 2 weeks from today.
