Hiawatha Landing Booked

July 1, 2007

APALACHIN, NY — The Links at Hiawatha Landing is New York State's premier public, upscale links style golf course located 10 minutes west of Binghamton, NY. The golf course is presently regarded by Golf Digest as the 5th Best Bargain in America. It is also booked next year on June 5 and June 6 with two different traditional outings.

Designed by Brian Silva and Mark Mungeam in golf’s grand tradition, The Links at Hiawatha Landing is reminiscent of the legendary circuits of Great Britain — the authentic links-style layout evident in the rolling hills, windswept sand bunkers and ornamental grasses. Over 7,200 yards, our impeccably manicured course will challenge the Carl Spackler Open tournament field.

"We are very pleased with Binghamton," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "The minor league Mets baseball team and stadium, nearby casino, hotels, and entertainment in the area makes southern New York very worthy of a Carl Spackler Open."

Water comes into play on seven holes, yet there are no forced carries — and best of all, there are no blind shots… you can create your own challenge. Our 17th and 18th holes are two of the most exciting finishing holes on any course. From the first tee to the last green, The Links at Hiawatha Landing issues an endless series of choices, making each hole and each round as inspiring as the first.

"The first step to any Spackler is finding a course," says Long. "That means creating a list and eliminating a portion based on early June availability. The state of New York is full of conflicts."

The tournament continues to create its 2008-2009 venue list. Courses that make the list are contacted for future availability, which includes 300-360 rounds over 4 days.

The 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled for June 5. The Captains Club continues to create a list of possible venues for 2008 and 2009 major championships. There are already 22 written commitments to date for the 8th major championship.
