Lashley to Return
August 13, 2003
ROCKY MOUNT, NC — The Spackler Business Office announced today that it has received a verbal committment of intent from Chris Lashley, as well as an out-and-out challenge to the rest of the talented Carl Spackler Open Championship field.
Lashley, the reigning On Tour Champion that carries an impressive +18 handicap, claims in his letter of intent that he will pressure the field with his distance off the tee and his long putting. Lashley, known to close friends as the Macho Stallion, is quoted to say that "I thoroughly scouted the field in 2002 and greatly missed the event. I am greatly looking forward to 2004."
Jay Dilks, one of the original founding members of the Captain's Club, simply chuckled and just shook his head upon hearing Lashley's quote. "They all talk smack as they forget just how big this tournament really is. We shall see what happens off the tee when he sees those narrow fairways of the Carl Spackler Open. This is no Benvenue."
The biggest topic on everyone's mind these days is where will the 2004 tournament be played. The Captains Club is planning their annual meeting in early September and an announcement is planned shortly after.
