Ridgeway Slides; Marti Rises
August 13, 2007
COLUMBUS, OH — Jason Ridgeway, the tournament leader for considerable time, fell over the weekend into 5th position within the 2007 Virtual Tournament Leaderboard. His current position is his worst of the golf season.
Jason played twice over the weekend, which included two course in contrast. The first, Mentel, is a wide-open straight forward municipal golf course. The second, Champions, is a former private course with tight tree-lined fairways and many holes that dogleg.
"It was hot out there," says Ridgeway. "My clothes were pretty much soaked at 7:30AM. The humidity and heat made things very interesting."
Ridgeway carded 5 birdies in two rounds. He also carded a rare double bogey on Hole 2 at Champions Golf Course.
Joe Muscaro and Kyle Marti moved up the Leaderboard after Jason posted rounds of 70 and 75 points. The 2007 Virtual Tournament Leaderboard uses the last 10 scorecards of the season. The latest weekend rounds unfortunately replace incredible rounds in late-June. Those 82 and 90 point rounds were two of his three season-high point totals.
Kyle Marti continues to sizzle and moves into second position behind tournament leader John McAninch. Kyle played a difficult private Conewango Country Club in Warren, PA. Marti surprisingly shot a full 18 holes without a blow-up hole, which contributed to the high point total. He also carded a very rare 12-point birdie.
The Spackler history books has seen great progress by Marti over the past 18 months. Kyle has dropped 15 strokes off his game. He holds second position with 71.7 points per round and 1.5 points per round out of first place.
In other news, the Red Zone Alert began on August 5. The pregnancy alert is in place for 60 more days. There are 135 days left in the 2007 Virtual Tournament.
