Milam Pours in 80 Points

August 30, 2007

CHARLOTTE, NC — A member of the Carl Spackler Open, Chris Milam recorded his second career birdie and three pars at Renaissance Park Golf Course while pouring in a career high 80 points and grabbing 13th position in the 2007 Virtual Tournament.

"I've been playing really well last couple of months," Chris said. "Of course, the season-long tournament inspires me and really want to perform even better each round. I need to work harder at finishing my round strong."

The stellar round included a rare birdie at the 400-yard 10th Hole. Milam's approach shot was pretty good, but the putt was perfect execution finding the bottom of the cup for 10 points.

"I've been there before," said Milam, who chuckled over a scorecard that finished double bogey and two triple bogeys. "You've just got to keep on grinding. I proved it again to myself that counting my eggs before their hatched will result in bogey plus golf. Finishing 7, 7, 7 was disappointing when you consider my 80-point round."

Matt Davis of the Captains Club was pleased with the sudden increase in points. "He looks pretty good," said Davis. "A steady increase in points throughout the summer is always something that gets me excited. He has a couple more months of golf to grab the top spot from Kyle."

The 2007 Virtual Tournament is led by Kyle Marti with 73.5 points per round. George Seidel continues to struggle with 60th position and 46.8 points per round.

Milam carded 6 bogeys and 3 pars in the wonderful round. The 9 holes plus the 10-point birdie were responsible for 46 of the 80 points. His last 10 rounds have averaged 65.1 points per round.
