Lewis Signs Again

November 30, 2007

WARREN, PA — Mike Lewis, a.k.a. Digger, has signed again to compete in Indiana's installment of the Carl Spackler Open. Lewis signs as the first player to represent the state of Pennsylvania. He is the first golfer to pay in full with his check for $359.00.

"Get busy living or get busy dying", said Lewis from his funeral home in Warren, PA. "It is an honor to return to a tournament field full of legends."

Digger's long history began in Winston-Salem, NC back in June 2004. He shot a tournament field high 155-over par 365. His rookie venture did manage to bring home a 4-man Scramble trophy from the Reynolds course at Tanglewood Park.

Lewis posted 205-over par 421 during his last full tournament in June 2005 at Mountain Valley. The three rounds were good for 65th position for overall stroke. He beat out Surinder Punia, Kevin Long Sr, and Marc Long.

He skipped the June 2006 in Raleigh, but briefly returned to Michigan.  The funeral home owner returned home for some unpredictable business. He played the opening round before withdrawaling from the tournament. He finished Thursday with a 45-over 117 at Grande Golf Club.

Lewis is expected to receive 2 points for triple bogey this June. "What? This is ridiculous," said senior member Jon Munksgard after hearing the handicap projection. "He stinks, but he is not that bad."

Mike Lewis was asked to comment further on his chances to win his first major championship. "The goal is to Kevin, Sr. very proud," said Lewis of his late friend. "Munksgard thinks it is my turn to be Carl. In honor of Big Kev. I have other ideas, but would dedicate even a loss to him. I think some devine intervention from Kevin is entirely possible."

Digger refers to Kevin Long, Sr., who passed away in mid-October 2007.

Mike Lewis becomes the 4th participant to sign for the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship. There are 46 remaining spots left in the tournament field.
