Happy Hours

January 9, 2008

PERU, IN — The Carl Spackler Open and Homer's Sports Bar will be working together and providing complimentary happy hours according to reports out of Peru, IN last week. The Captains Club asked Jay Dilks to comment on the rumors and excitement.

"Thanks for coming today. I am here to discuss the rumored happy hours at Spackler," said Dilks. "The rumored happy hours are indeed rumors. We are still working with Homer's Sports Bar and the possibility of providing complimentary beer as part of the tournament fee. The object is to generate camaraderie and additional value, but with a shuttle bus for safety."

Jon Munksgard asked, "So what does free beer mean?" Dilks laughed and replied, "Can you imagine a complimentary Spackler happy hour? We would probably consume 200 beers. We are investigating half that over a scheduled hour on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. Something to get the party started each night."

The amount of funding will depend on changes to the budget and shuttle plans over the next five months. The Captains Club encourages local police to place drunk golfers driving vehicles in jail. Purchasing of beer will done based on provided transportation.

Munksgard asked, "So the free beer would be like Maroon's in Pottsville." Dilks replied, "Exactly like Pottsville. It will be scheduled better to make sure everyone has time to arrive, but exactly the same idea."

Homer's Sports Bar has a range of domestic and imported beers.

The tournament is expected to purchase zero beer or alcohol at the golf course. Rock Hollow will provide the lowest priced beer in the history of the 8-year event. Golfers are and will be reminded that sneaking beer on the golf course will not be permitted this year.

The 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship is expected to have a tournament field of 56 or 60 participants. The tournament field includes 11 different states including 20 participants from nearby Ohio.
