Jimmy Knows Spackler
December 14, 2007
WARREN, PA — Jimmy Campbell, partial winner of the 2005 4-man Scramble, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play golf at the 2008 Carl Spackler Open and represent the state of Pennsylvania. He returns with his traditional desire to beat Mike Lewis and Jon Munksgard.
"Our Little Buddy is one of our most excited members and we are always happy to see he is prioritizing his life properly," said Lewis of his Little Buddy.
Campbell returns for his 4th straight tournament and finishing in 4th position at Mountain Valley and 8th in Raleigh. He finished average in Michigan by grabbing 33rd position.
"Jimmy has been doing very well at the Spackler," said Campbell as he referred to himself in the third person. "Jimmy knows Spackler. Jimmy is the 16th best player in the history of the tournament. The continued focus by Jimmy at tournament time will see reward. Jimmy has a heavy desire to win the Open, which would also allow Jimmy to beat everyone else including Lewis and Munksgard."
Munksgard's Little Buddy has posted two scorecards in Virtual Tournament play. The two-rounds are not enough to qualify, however he does presently average 56.2 points per round.
"Jimmy has a tremendous amount of national tournament experience after very successful finishes," Campbell said. "Jimmy does lack some fundamentals, but an outfit is simply out of the question."
In other news, rookie Fernando Martinez filed his written commitment this week to attend this year's major championship. Rookie Craig Williams from Malibu, CA and John Everill from Phoenix, AZ are rumored as probable.
The Carl Spackler Open is set to kickoff on June 5 with Round 1. There are 25 players signed as of today. Jim is the 9th player to sign and 3rd from Warren, PA. There are 43 spots remaining in the tournament field.
