Jerry Long Returns
December 31, 2007
SARASOTA, FL — The Carl Spackler Open is proud to announce Jerry Long has signed a letter of intent to drink beer and play golf at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, IN. The most experienced member in Michigan signed in late-November suggesting bogey golf once again.
Jerry Long is a first cousin of Kevin Long, Sr. and Chuck Long, Sr. and resides in Florida during cold winter months. "I am happy to be back again for 2008," said Long. "This winter will be used to work on my game in sunny Florida. I anticipate a major upset and first win at Spackler. I
look forward to showing the young pups how to play the game. 'AGE over BRONZE' Long live the Spackler Open."
Jerry Long finished in 19th place at the Grande Golf Club.
"Another impressive Long with another impressive handicap," says member Marty Zabonik. "Hopefully he can keep up with social aspects of being a Long. That would add a tremendous comedy to our tournament."
Jerry holds 56th position within the 2007 Virtual Tournament. His 56.2 points per round is disappointing, but places him in a great position to elevate his 2008 stroke and point handicaps.
"I read about Jerry, but I was really impressed when I was able to see him play in person," said fellow member Rudy Bailey. "He equally impressed me as both a golfer and a person."
The 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship will be played at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, IN. There are 42 participants registered for the tournament. The registration period ended on December 28 with several personal checks to be received this week.
