GALLOWAY, OH — The 2007 Carl Spackler Outfit recipient has chosen to sign and return to the major championship that has Mark Wray a household name. Wray is set with nowhere else to go, but up after placing dead last in Michigan.

"I am glad to be getting another shot at the Spackler Open," said Carl in a written statement. "I am looking forward to the challenge of going from worst to first. I need a little redemption after such a bad season and a humiliating performance at last years Spackler! I need to prove to the golf world I can compete at the level required to win this event."

Wray, the +8.0 stroke handicap, opened the 2007 event with a stunningly sober 28-over 100 strokes. More stunning was the lack of club throwing.

"You have to wonder if he will be attending the practice session this year," said Jason Watson, Vice President of Awards. "These rookies never learn. Wray really needs to regroup in his second season. Last year was dreadful. I played horrible golf and threw clubs. He played worse than club throwing golf."

Wray finished the tournament with zero birdies. "It really boils down to my inability to get anything going," said Wray. "We should be 'talking about practice' this June."

In Michigan, Wray opened Thursday against 63 participants. He finished the opening round with a fractured arm and the lowest number of points. He returned Friday morning and scored the 5th lowest number of points against the remaining 62 participants. He returned once again on Saturday morning and scored the 5th lowest number of points against the remaining 62 participants.

"There always is the possibility the handicapping was incorrect," says senior member Tom Fowble. "However, Wray had the full 15 scorecards on record prior to Michigan."

Mark Wray signs as the 44th participant and will represent Ohio. The tournament field is expected to be 68 golfers from 11 states.
