April 25, 2008

FENNVILLE, MI — The Carl Spackler Open added a talented performer with the signing of Tom Henkel of Michigan to letter of intent on Friday. Tom, a.k.a. Tink, will join the men's golf program that has been on the brink of greatness and record-size once again. Henkel is the 15th rookie to sign to play in the Open.

"We are thrilled that Tom has decided to make the quick drive to Peru," said David Bol of Michigan. "He really strengthens our chances to bring home the jacket to Michigan."

Henkel has consistently played bogey golf throughout the early golf season. The plus 16 stroke handicap will slide into the tournament field as a 'B-' player and the 36th most skilled golfer.

Tink, a wonderful registry will add to an already talented field of rookies and boost the average age at the annual event. "Tom is about 255 pounds and he can reportedly hit the ball a long way", said future son-in-law Jason Ridgeway. "He is just short of spectacular when he gets a golf club in his hands."

"Tink has a lot of regional tournament experience and has a very solid foundation of fundamentals", Rick Dosky said. "It is hard to tell what a national championship atmosphere will do to his game."

Henkel signs as the 4th player to represent the state of Michigan. There are 72 golfers set to attack Rock Hollow on June 4. There are 28 golfers to represent Ohio, 18 rookies, and 35 senior members.
