PERU, IN — Greg Garrett, the 4-time winner of the Golden Rod and 2004 Skills Challenge Contest, has signed to play golf at the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship at Rock Hollow Golf Club starting Thursday.
Greg will arrive to Peru this evening and participate in tommorrow's practice round. He enters the tournament as "C+ player".
"Absolute bull crap," says Tom McCauley. "Garrett is the best C player in the history of golf. How is this possible with 275 yards off the tee, a Skills Challenge trophy, and 3-straight consecutive Golden Rods for putting?"
Garrett quietly posts a 16.8 stroke handicap. There are 37 golfers with a lower stroke handicap.
"I am looking forward to the extra points this year," says Double G. "The four points for par is quite welcome."
Garrett has shot bogey golf this year with three posted rounds at Buck's Ridge Golf Course.
Kevin Long, Jr. will arrive to Peru from Virginia Beach as an "A- player". Long returns with a 12.7 stroke handicap. "I am not this good," says Long. "I obviously did not sandbag enough this year. I am not an A player."
Long and Joe Muscaro will participate this week as the 18th most skilled golfer.
Kevin's most recent post was last week at the TPC of Virginia Beach. He shot a 10-over 82 worth 68 points in the 2008 Virtual Tournament.
The 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins Thursday with Round 1 play. There are 72 participants ready to dual for the 8th Golden Jacket and hopefully not the Carl Spackler Outfit. Live Scoring will begin Thursday afternoon from the golf course.
