'Did you say 56?'

June 2, 2008

DUBLIN, OH — Matt Pritchard, winner of the 2006 Crapper Award, carded 56 strokes in 9 holes at Brookside Country Club in Columbus, OH. The disappointing stretch of holes is not very timely with the 2008 Carl Spackler Open beginning in 3 days.

"I could not get anything right," said Pritchard after his round. "I hit a couple of good shots out there, but they were rare."

Pritchard carded four double-bogeys, 4 triple-bogeys, and one bogey during the 9 hole stretch that began with the 4th hole.

"Did you say 56?" asked Bob Morris, referring to the 56 strokes in 9 holes. "Didn't he just shoot a 8-over 80 less than a week ago? I remember the round specifically because it was an 80 with a quadruple bogey. How do people play golf so innconsistent?"

Pritchard barely broke 100 at Brookside. Some stellar play down the stretch saved his golf game from rising to an embarrasing level.

"The funniest thing is Matt's 16th oldest round," says Pat Boland. "His 15th oldest round prior to Sunday at Jefferson Country Club was horrible. It is no longer part of his last 15 scorecards, which actually makes his handicap look better. He lost a double-bogey point for this week's Carl Spackler Open."

In other news, Mike Davis and Randon Mineweaser have migrated southwest to Powell, OH for Jack Nicklaus' Memorial Tournament and Carl Spackler Open later this week. They will both be playing the private Scioto Reserve and Kinsale before leaving for Peru, IN. They will be paired with Bill Bateson and Marty Zabonik for the 36-hole event.
