Kapalua 100

July 31, 2008

LAHAINA, HI — Tim Davis has been showing no signs this year of emerging from his appalling slump. A perfect 100. A perfect 50. Unfortunately those numbers are not perfection in golf.

Tim Davis played tropical golf at The Plantation at Kapalua Resort last weekend and shot a 27-over 100. He shot a pair of 50's and scored 60 points.

After missing the Carl Spackler Outfit in Indiana by 6 points, the 90210 doctor, who fell outside the world's top 12,530,205 and stopped playing completely for two months, ran up a quintuple-bogey 9 on the opening hole at Kapalua. Then followed up with a triple-bogey six at the second hole to leave him all alone in his mess.

"It might sound weird to compare the ocean breeze to the Peru breeze, but both rounds topped 90 degrees and 25 mph winds," said Davis. "I played a lot of low irons after the initial quintuple-bogey."

Tim did see a bright moment starting at the 8th hole. He parred four straight holes worth 16 points. The four holes were his only pars.

Davis tumbled out of contention by taking a another quintuple-bogey nine at the 12th hole. The 60 points scored moved Tim into 52nd position inside the Virtual Tournament with 53.7 points per round.

The 2008 Virtual Tournament moves into August with Don Creighton leading the season-long event. There is one more month of active golf before football season takes over weekend golf volume.
