Coach Bus Service
December 8, 2008
LYNCHBURG, VA — The Carl Spackler Open Championship plans to return this year with just more than a classic field of players. The tournament is expected to return with upscale safe shuttle bus transportation to/from the golf course on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The coach bus service ensures no drinking and driving throughout the week and transportation of 57 golf bags back to the hotel on Saturday.
"We are very pleased with the opportunities in Lynchburg," says Vice President of Tournament Transportation, Don Creighton. "The primary goal is to fill the bus. Participants can expect the bus service to be offered as a participant option in March."
The shuttle bus will cost $30 total per participant for four round trip services including baseball game. The bus option will be available only if the bus is completely filled.
"The online participant option in March will have three choices," said Creighton. "The first option will be 'No Thanks.'. The second option will be 'Yes.' The third option will be 'Not necessary, but yes if needing help filling the bus.'"
There are no other transportation services. Participants are expected to walk 275 yards to all other nighttime entertainment.
Daily pairing sheets are expected to be distributed on the bus both Friday and Saturday mornings.
"The bus is being offered for 3 days and 134 miles," says Creighton. "The cost for the bus is $30 per golfer. The gasoline and wear plus stadium parking to private vehicles is expected to be $50 over 3 days."
The 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 10 with the annual practice round. Tournament registration continues through January 28.
