A Christmas Wish
December 4, 2008
NORTHPOLE — Remember when you were a child and there was a special wish you had for Christmas? The Carl Spackler Open is ageless and making your grown-up dreams come true by granting wishes that will make someone happy throughout the year -- not just at Christmas time. Every June is Christmas!
The Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to be played in 187 days. It's open registration began on November 15 and runs until January 28.
"It's time to start thinking about true gift giving and not just throwing money away on gift cards," says Captains Club member Matt Davis, a.k.a. Pokey. Each player is required to postmark $120 before January 28. This kind of gift is guaranteed to make a loved one happy and continue to give for years to come.
Davis explains the importance of putting your entry fee on your Christmas list. "What gift would be better from the wife then being allowed to attend?" asked Davis. "The answer is your wife writing out and mailing the check for you."
The Christmas season started last Friday. The registration was pushed back starting in 2009 with 56 days left before the registration period is over.
"There was that rare excuse about money," says Matt Davis, Vice President of the Bag Storage and Tournament Gifts. "I have one thing on my christmas list. My friends and family can take chances and potentially waste time or commit to buying the best gift of all."
Pokey also reminded players of the importance of getting your vacation logged in with the boss. He said, "Getting your vacation scheduled today will be the hint towards the best employee gift possible. Maybe a freebee vacation day or additional funds towards the tournament."
All players will be required to register through the Spackler Business Office by postmarking their check by January 28. Registration details are available online.
The absolute deadline has been established as a means for our department to count the number of serious players interested in this year's major and for our office to make appropriate accommodations on February 1.
Late-entries with full payment will be collected. Decisions on late-entries will be made on April 18, 2009 after final balances for all participants are due.
The 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to begin on June 10 at Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, VA. The total cost for the tournament is $365, which includes 6 meals, baseball ticket, golf, hotel, and lots of entertainment.
