Parinella Commits Verbally

November 10, 2008

WARREN, PA — It's definitely intimidating coming in as a rookie because Spackler is totally different from the high school game. It’s a lot quicker, courses are more difficult, and the pressures of life increase tenfold. You want to try and do the best you can, but rookie Steven Parinella is no longer running scared.

With tournament registration underway, there are several unconfirmed reports that Parinella is in for this year's championship. The consensus is the "Bernie Kosar want-to-be" is is no longer worried about the perceived bullying of rookies.

"It is about time," says buddy Joe Muscaro. "Steve would be a perfect Carl Spackler."

The obvious Yankees fan reportedly teaches history. "History!" says Brian Flanagan. "If he knows his Spackler history, he knows who won this event just two years ago."

Parinella's handicap and statistics are better than 30 percent of expected tournament field. Parinella has posted nine scorecards with 34-over 105 as his personal worst.

"The 2nd hole at Cable Hollow is his favorite hole," says Kevin Long, Jr.. "It is going to become his 19th favorite after the practice round this June."

Joe Muscaro jumped back into the news conference. "Great News! We have our school teacher," said Muscaro. "Get him signed up! We got our plummer two years ago with Harold Anderson's signing. We still have room for a fireman, garbage man, architect, dentist, and road construction contractor."

The Warren Area High School calendar suggests classes will be done in very early June 2009. Parinella's verbal commitment is rumored to be as solid as that schedule.

"He is a history teacher," added Muscaro. "Nobody knows more than a history teacher that we will never be younger than we were yesterday. These are annual opportunites lost or gained."

Open tournament registration for the 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship continues until January 28. There are 3 participants signed for the Virginia event.
