Hurricane Swirls Early

January 18, 2004

DULUTH, GA — Pat "Hurricane" Boland didn't get a chance to miss an 18-inch putt at Golfapalooza. Heck, he needed a driver to get the ball close to the cup on some of the greens.

Boland, a 2-time Golfapalooza member, failed quickly during both attempts to win the MELC championship.  He declared the Carl Spackler Open was important when he signed to become the 8th player to play in both majors.  Now he is declaring that January 12 is not cold enough to take the winter season off.

The Georgian did fall south scoring only 29 points last week at Pine Forest.  "I hit my irons terrible", said Boland.  "I cannot continue to swing 94 times a round with no birdies and two-points for a par.  "I was always putting from 40 feet last week and that isn't giving me a chance."

Boland played in the 2nd major of 2003 shooting the mid-80's each day and 41-over par for the tournament.  His blunder out of the gate is obviously much higher than his average and his point average is slipping.

"Sounds like he pretty much deflated himself out there the first few holes", said Brian Flanagan. "Does he know that range practice before a round is allowed and encouraged?"

It is obvious a very powerful hurricane struck our Hurricane Boland and his game last week.  A state of emergency has been initiated and only good things can come from Boland this year.
