LYNCHBURG, VA — The Captains Club announced again today that the Quality Inn in Lynchburg, VA will host the 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship players. The hotel was chosen for price, but more importantly for its location to Cattle Annies and Big Lick Tropical Bar.

"We are very excited about the Quality Inn and their ability to host the vast majority of our participants inside 40 non-smoking rooms," says Captains Club member Tom McCauley and 2008 Horses Ass Award Winner. "Everyone that knows me knows that I should not be driving a vehicle anywhere. The Quality Inn is 50 yards from a Outback Steakhouse, 250 yards from Cattle Annies, and 275 yards from Big Lick Tropical Bar."

The Quality Inn will provide two participants one room with two queen size beds, microwave, and refrigerator. The hotel will also provide a deluxe continental breakfast, restaurant, bar, exercise room, outdoor swimming pool.

The last registered foursome from Michigan will have a smoking room. The other 40 rooms will receive non-smoking rooms.

"The banquet room inside the hotel was icing on the cake," says McCauley. "This will steamline the tournament player meeting, pizza dinner on Friday, awards dinner, and awards presentation."

The Quality Inn will also provide lots of parking and free high-speed wireless Internet. Participants will receive an included breakfast each morning. Belgium waffles, sausage, fruit, and muffins are some of the included items.

"The hotel restaurant and small bar were renovated last fall," says Tom McCauley. "The work was done months ago, which should add value to our event."

The hotel is located off Route 29 Business in Lynchburg. A map SOUTH-SIDE UP is available at: http://www.poststats.com/public/lynchburg-map.htm

The 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship will be played at Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, VA. The 4-day event will begin with its practice round on June 10. There are 84 participants scheduled to participate in the 9th annual event.
