Jensen Fires 76
March 30, 2009
DUBLIN, OH — Rookie Henry Jensen opened his 2009 Virtual Tournament last weekend at the Golf Club of Dublin with a 10-over 82. The super start was worth an impressive 76 points, but most impressive was his 18 holes with just one double-bogey or worse.
"It took a couple of holes to get going," said Jensen of his start. "I hit some good short irons in there today. In particular, my string of pars on the back side added tremendous confidence."
Jensen carded 9 pars, 1 double-bogey, and 8 bogeys during his round. He parred 6 straight holes starting at the 11th hole.
"Jensen's game seems to be coming around this summer," said member Dave Osborne. "He is one of those guys that plays a different course each week and continues to chug along and move up the board. That kind of consistency defines strength instead of perceiving strength."
Rookie and partner Hudson McVay carded a 8-over 80 last weekend at Golf Club of Dublin. McVay's first round of the season was worth 65 points and included a birdie at the 8th hole.
"The triple-bogey at the 13th hole was a round killer," says Dave Osborne. "An opening 5-over 77 would have been more than incredible."
McVay carded 11 pars, 1 birdie, 4 bogeys, 1 double-bogey, and 1 triple bogey. The front nine 1-over 37 was worth 31 points.
There are currently 11 participants on the 2009 Virtual Tournament Leaderboard with a little over nine months left in the season-long event. The tournament is expected to increase considerable scorecard volume starting in two or three weeks with warmer weather coming to the northeast United States.
