Big Lick

LYNCHBURG, VA — The #1 tournament in amateur golf, Carl Spackler Open, will get rockin in early June 2009 with Big Lick Tropical Bar in Lynchburg, VA. The Captains Club made some entertainment announcements on Wednesday night.

"Big Lick Tropical Bar & Grill has landed in the crowded Carl Spackler Open docket," says CEO of the Captains Club Jeremy Myers. "We are excited about Lynchburg and the opportunities it provides us. The 'Welcome Party' on Wednesday will include lots of plasma tv's, outdoor patio, tiki bar, dart boards, fully stocked bar inside, live music, extensive food menu, and hopefully Francis 'Ponch' Poncherello serving up the drinks for everyone."

Big Lick is located just 275 yards from the Quality Inn. Participants will cross Odd Fellows Road and cut through the Lynchburg Inn parking lot.

"The specials are pretty stellar," says an always drunk Kevin Long. "The Happy Hour specials at The Big Lick are crazy. $1.00 high balls, $1.00 bottle beers, $1.10 drafts, and $2.50 margaritas. There are some trees behind the Lynchburg Inn where members like Gumby can puke."

Big Lick Tropical Bar and Cattles Annies cover almost all nightspots in the entire city of Lynchburg. A Buffalo Wild Wings 3 miles away and Mudpuppies approximately 7 miles away complete the nightspots around town. Both Mudpuppies and BW3's are not expected to be options inside the itinerary.

The Big Lick Tropical Bar & Grill will provide live music both Wednesday and Saturday night on the patio or inside depending on weather. 'Bugs in an Elevator' will play Wednesday night with 'Southern Breeze' playing Saturday night.

"Participants are strongly encouraged to attend our Welcome Party on Wednesday night at Big Lick," says Myers. "I am looking forward to buying all 87 of you a beer."

The 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled for June 10-13. There are presently 88 participants signed to participante in the 9th annual event. Rookie Chris Price has home course advantage living just 75 minutes away.
