Deceptive 2-over 38

JAMESTOWN, NY — Joe Muscaro is not your average 'B player'. He is a strong B player that is considered by many to be a 'B+ player'. Muscaro opened the front nine with a very impressive 2-over 38 and more importantly a memory worth cherishing.

Muscaro played South Hills Country Club in Jamestown, NY last weekend with very little fan turnout. The 'white tee' at the par 72 course measures an unimpressive 5,560 yards. Poststats.com assigns negative 2 points for course difficulty.

Joe parred 7 holes and bogeyed the 2nd and 4th holes to card a deceptive 2-over 38 worth 32 points.

“The whole idea of the game is put the ball in the hole, and I did that,” Muscaro said with angry look. “Those who want to critize the yards played need to back off.”

The 2-over 38 was Joe's best 9 holes since July 11, 2008 when he shot 8 pars and a bogey at Jackson Valley Country Club.

"Things were going really well out there," said Muscaro of the front nine. "The par at the 10th hole really kept the momentum going for another 20 minutes. Then things came unglued."

Muscaro finished the final 8 holes 9-over par. "You could really see his age taking its toll out there," says playing partner Steven Parinella. "He should have laid down after 9 holes and taken a nap."

Parinella shot a manageable round until he quadruple bogeyed the final hole.

In other news, the 2009 Crapper Award winner shocked the Spackler world at Rolling Meadows last Friday. Senior member Mark Wray birdied 4 of the final 5 holes to shoot an impressive 1-over 37 on the back nine. The four birdies were worth 35 points. The birdie binge bounced Wray into a very unfamilar place; 9th position in the Virtual Tournament.

The 2009 Virtual Tournament rolls on with Chad Long holding onto 1st position with 72.3 points per round. The legendary Trent Cooper continues to hold 74th position with 44.0 points per round.
