For Charity

COLUMBUS, OH — After his retirement last September from golf, Slick has vowed to never pickup another club with the exception of two coveted annual majors, celebrity tournaments, and charity functions.

He has kept his promise to date and decided this week to sign up for the 2004 St. Pete Classic after organizers asked for his participation.  "This one is for St. Pete and kids", said Greg Long from his home in Columbus, OH.  "St. Pete has done a great job with the kids and it's research over the years.  It is the least I could do to help the cause against cancer.  This is what golf is all about.  Giving back."

This sudden decision to play golf most likely has something to do with getting an edge on the field at Tanglewood Park, but other say it's his other retirement on his mind.  "It's what retired guys do," said Brian Flanagan.  "Retired guys play golf."  Flanagan's comment comes minutes after hearing that Slick retired once again.  This time he decided to retire from paid employment with no provisions.

In addition to Slick, Brian Long, Jason Watson, and Greg Garrett signed to play the 72-hole tournament.  The 2004 St. Pete Classic is a 72-hole event held annual to raise money for the kids of St. Pete.  The express tournament hosts 36 holes per day over a two day period.

Jason Watson has other ideas.  "Publicly it is for the kids, but I won't lie.  A big part of my decision to play is to get the edge on the field of players at the 2004 Carl Spackler Open.  We are talking about the Golden Jacket for god sakes."
