Home Field Advantage

DALLAS, TX — Vice President of Grass, Tom McCauley today announced the signing of Captains Club member Jason Watson of Dallas, TX to a national letter of intent during the signing period in late-November. Watson is the 1st player to sign and represent the state of Texas for this year's major championship.

"The Texas wedge may be the most important club this year," says Watson of his home field advantage. "Most players do not know what it is or how to use it. That gives me the edge."

Watson's home field advantage will include a 16-hour round trip commute. "Texas is larger than people realize," said Watson. "Many guys will get to the course faster than me. Half of my birthday will be spent in a car."

Jason "Randy" Watson is one of three players with course knowledge prior to April. "The winter climate in Dallas, existing course knowledge, and early arrival should pay dividends," added Watson.

Randy opened the Amherst, VA event with dismal results. He heated up at Poplar Grove by Saturday, but the single strong round was good enough for 33rd position in the 54-hole tournament. The 2009 event was largely improved from June 2007 when he finished 60th with 62 players.

"He is the 7th best golfer in Spackler history," says Brian Flanagan. "He also has a salmon colored sash. He has done very well over the years."

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins in 138 days from South Padre Island Golf Club. Watson is one of five members who can participate in their 10th event this April. The business office expects to be fully collected by March 18, 2010. Ground transportation for the event will be announced in early March 2010.
