LAGUNA VISTA, TX — Located on the tropical tip of Texas, Laguna Vista is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre Bay. Beautiful beaches, warm Gulf waters, fishing, boating, bird watching, shopping, and a diversity of year-round activities await every visitor. As the days wind down with breathtaking sunsets over the bay, night clubs and restaurants come alive with conversation, dining, music and dancing.

One of the top reasons for Laguna Vista as an event location is climate. Laguna Vista experiences a humid subtropical climate, similar to that of the Tampa Bay Area of Florida, but with less precipitation and slightly higher summer maximum temperatures.

The average high temperature on April 15 is 79 degrees. The average low temperature is 67 degrees. "The sun is very warm," says Captains Club member Jason Watson. "Most people do not realize it until they come down closer to the equator."

The area averages 1.79 inches of rain in the month of April. The number means nothing until you compare it to rain in other locations across the nation. Columbus receives an average of 4.64 inches of rain in June. Warren receives 5.14, St. Louis receives 3.83, Virginia Beach receives 3.36, New York receives 3.45, Charlotte receives 3.42, Peru receives 4.23, and Binghamton receives 4.24 inches of rain in June.

"We cannot guarantee weather conditions, but the percentages are sure with the event in southern Texas," added Watson. "The dollar value for a sunny comfortable golf trip is unrealized until you have a Virginia rain fest."

The temperature of the Gulf of Mexico ranges between 58 degrees in January and 83 degrees in August. The average water temperature in April is 70 degrees.

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship moves into the middle of December with 7 participants. There are 33 to 53 participants expected to purchase an airline ticket in January, February, and March.
