Record-Low Beer Prices

December 28, 2009

LAGUNA VISTA, TX — On behalf the Captains Club, Jeremy Myers continued to release details surrounding the 10th Major Championship scheduled for April at South Padre Island Golf Club. Myers gladly took the responsibility of releasing financials surrounding alcohol and general beverage.

"The beer will once again be cheapest in event history," said with a big smile. "We have secured $2.00 beers from the clubhouse and beverage carts."

The Captains Club negotiated price per beer. The price per beer is the lowest in 10 years and ties the prices in 2008 and 2009. The price drops 12 percent from our previous record-low at the Grande in Michigan and Mountain Valley in Pennsylvania.

"My two cases of beer is once again under $100," said a delighted Myers. "The beverage cart girls should be happy with our consumption levels." Senior Member Glenn Hoffert asked, "Do you think the course will have enough beer this year?" Myers replied, "With record-low pricing, we are stressing the importance of a fully stocked beer truck prior to our arrival."

Participants can expect to pay more for beverages on the island in the evenings.

"The price per beer in Laguna Vista is low enough to double-fist," said Jeremy Myers. "The comfortable climate and breeze off the gulf should allow for further enjoyment."

Participants will be asked to walk to the clubhouse each morning. They will also be asked to return to their condo after golf by foot.

A proposed bus or taxi service is expected to be available Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

Jeff Tatum shouted, "Kevin Long, Jr. could not even see last year because of high consumption. Do you think he need to purchase a tournament breathalyzer?"

Myers replied, "Tournament behaviors continue to amaze me after 9 years. You keep thinking you have seen it all, but you never do. A tournament breathalyzer is a great idea for the parking lots. We will take this under advisement"

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship began registration on November 14. The tournament is expected to sign between 40 and 60 participants. There are 13 participants registered for the event.
