COLUMBUS, OH — Senior member Michael Gibson "is way too cool" says multiple reports out of national golf publications. The Ohioan has recently been labeled the coolest player in amateur golf. The Captains Club organized a press conference to discuss his new label and recent signing to participate in the 2010 Carl Spackler Open.

"I would like to welcome everyone to today's press release," said Captains Club member Jason Watson. "It is my pleasure to announce that our event has signed the 'coolest player in amateur golf'. With that, I give you Michael Gibson."

Gibson, a.k.a. Gibbs, stepped forward and exclaimed, "This is some crazy shit! It is just a cold towel on my head so that I remain cool on a very hot golf course. This is too much unneeded exposure on my golf game."

Jon Munksgard asked, "How much do you drop your body temperature with the towel and does the it stay put when swinging a club?"

Gibson replied, "It feels like my temperature drops about 10 degrees, but the lack of arm and leg sweat is very underrated. I take the towel off when selecting a club for each shot. Then hit my ball, swear, and reapply the towel and hat."

Gibbs shocked the world when he opened the 2009 Carl Spackler Open with a birdie. The paparazzi slowly began to follow the media sensation after he posted a career best 12-over 84. The stellar round pumped in 73 points and led the tournament by several points.

"I contribute last year's opening round to remaining cool," says Mike. "There were a lot of guys whining about the course flooding, volume of hazards, trees, and heat. I saw the opportunity to attack the field and did just that."

Gibson held the first round lead at Poplar Grove Golf Club. Everything slowly fell apart afterwards. He posted a pair of 19-over 91's to finish the 54-hole tournament in 12th position.

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship will be held in Laguna Vista, TX. Michael Gibson is expected to arrive in southern Texas prior to lunch on April 14. There are plans to play the tournament course 24 hours prior to the practice round.
