Morris Grabs Spot

March 5, 2010

CHICAGO, IL — Senior member Bob Morris has signed to play golf at the 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship. Morris will represent the state of Illinois and grabs the 32nd spot in the tournament field.

"It is great to be back once again," says Bob Morris. "I really was starting to worry about getting back to compete in the prestigious Carl Spackler Open. It would be a dream to return with the Golden Jacket."

A Chicago native, Bob has lived in Arizona, California, New York, Connecticut, Florida, back to California, back to Illinois, over the last 15 years. He brings one of the hardest swingers "on tour" as his religion does not permit woods.

Morris struggled considerably during his first few Carl Spackler Open's. He finished his rookie tournament with a tie for 42nd position at Mountain Valley. "His rookie season was riddled with disappointment," says buddy Pat Boland. "His second year was not much better." Morris finished in 55th position at the Neuse with 63 participants.

"Bob has really turned it on since his first couple of Open's," added Pat Boland. "He finished in 21st place in Michigan and broke the Top 10 in Indiana. The 32nd place in Virginia was not exactly disappointing with 88 participants in the field." The 5-year member is the 30th best player in Spackler history.

Morris boasts a +6.2 stroke handicap, however the 26-over 98 at Poplar Grove in June 2009 has plenty of skeptics.

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship is a 54-hole handicapped golf tournament. The event will hold a traditional practice round on April 15 in Laguna Vista, TX. Morris will depart Chicago on April 14. He will join the Boland brothers in St. Louis before flying Southwest Airlines to Houston and joining 15 participants from Ohio and West Virginia.
