Pennsylvanian Joins Field
March 27, 2010
WARREN, PA — Jon Marti, a.k.a. Jonno, announced in late-February that he will be the 43rd player to commit and fully expects to shine in his 5th straight tournament. Naturally, a few Captains Club members accompanied Marti to his press conference.
"Today we announce Jonno has signed for our 10th chapter of the Carl Spackler Open," said Brian Long. "Jon is clearly one of the strongest threats for taking home a Golden Jacket."
Jonno is a 19.8 stroke handicap and the best lawyer in the tournament field. "I am glad to be back," said Marti. "I look back at my rookie year and see the traditional rookie mistakes. I finished in 44th position and returned in Michigan with lessons learned. I cut the gap for first place in half and continued to strive for Top 30 finish each year."
Marti has done just that since his rookie event in 2006. Jonno placed 22 in Michigan, 30 in Indiana, and a career best 18th finish in Virginia.
"The southern courses play more to my game," said Marti. They are generally flatter and shorter. The wind off the Gulf of Mexico is a challenge I am looking forward to."
Both Kyle and Jon Marti will fly from Buffalo, NY and arrive to Harlingen, TX on April 14 at 12:40PM. Both will represent the state of Pennsylvania.
The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship is a 54-hole handicapped golf tournament with an optional practice round on April 15. There are 51 or 52 participants expected for the golf party in Laguna Vista, TX.
