Morris Slips Disc?

March 31, 2010

CHICAGO, IL — Senior member Bob Morris could pull out of the 10th Carl Spackler Open, citing back problems says multiple reports from the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times. Morris has not yet notified the tournament office, but multiple sources inside the Tribune believe his back is "considerably damaged".

Although Morris has not been a factor at the Carl Spackler Open in recent years, the Morris presence does sell tickets, increases media attention, and brings a fan base of both genders to the golf course.

"I had to check my calendar," says Jeremy Myers when hearing the news. "I needed to make sure it wasn't April Fool's Day."

Morris began his career in 2005 and has never missed a Carl Spackler Open. The 5-year streak could come to an end in two weeks.

The reports from multiple newspaper sources suggest a possible "slipped disc". ESPN has not yet been able to confirm the story.

"I choose to believe in his ability to play through his injuries," says Matt Boland. "Freddy Couples plays with a bad back."

Morris' publicist was contacted for a official statement, but numerous calls remained unreturned Wednesday morning.

In other news, the daily pairings are scheduled for release tomorrow. The four rounds of pairings will not be considered final until printed on April 13.
