Myers Scores 61
April 5, 2010
ROCKY MOUNT, NC — Jeremy Myers, a.k.a. Froglegs, carded 61 points last weekend at a bankrupted Ford's Colony Country Club in Rocky Mount, NC. The round was his first of the season with a major championship looming next week.
The 10-year member of the Carl Spackler Open shot a mind-boggling 34-over 106 including a 13-over 49 on the back.
"I caught fire and turned into a bogey machine," said Myers of his stellar round. "I do not want to be too positive because the front nine was more of the same garbage everyone has grown accustomed to seeing from me, however my game is really in good shape right now."
Myers brought the back nine to its knees with 4 bogeys and 2 pars. "The points were coming in faster than I could track in my head," said Froglegs. "I still cannot believe that I am capable of scoring 32 points in a couple of hours."
The old-Myers did make an appearance at the 2nd and 14th holes where he scored quadruple-bogeys.
"He looks very strong," says Kevin Long, Jr. "The tournament field should be very scared of the assault Myers can put down on the Leaderboard."
The single round of golf is expected to be the last before Myers takes flight for Texas next week.
In other news, Paul Luppino grabs an early lead in the 2010 Virtual Tournament with 65.8 points per round. Greg Long, Mark Wray, and Mike Hawley have grabbed a spot on the season-long event Leaderboard.
