Palmer Cards 71 Points
May 4, 2010
CHARLOTTE, NC — That old familiar feeling came back this week, like the breeze that blew through South Padre Island, Mark Palmer is on the move. The 2-year member carded 71 points on Sunday and grabbed a share of 11th position in the 2010 Virtual Tournament.
After electrifying the crowd with a par at the 3rd hole, Palmer continued his rare par-fest with pars at 4, 5, 13, 14, 15, and 18. "It was good on Sunday," said Palmer. "I almost finished with no hockeysticks and snowmen, which would have been quite of an accomplishment. The season is still young."
Mark's 71 points was a season-high by 15 points and season-low number of strokes by 6. "Carolina Lakes is not an easy place to score," says partner and senior member Chris Milam.
"If you would have asked me earlier in the season if I was going to break 90 by June, I would have laughed at you," Palmer said. "I was really looking forward to playing well, but not until this summer. I feel emotionally and physically ready to attack."
Mark continued, "My life has changed since my signing to play in the 2009 Carl Spackler Open. In a lot of ways, golf is not the be-all and end-all, but the fire in my belly and my determination are as strong as ever."
The 2010 Virtual Tournament continues with Paul Luppino on the top of the Leaderboard. The Texan holds first position by 0.1 points per round over Jason Ridgeway.
