WARREN, PA — Rookie Richard Myers thrashing out of the On Tour Championship announced, "It's back to the practice ground." The Pennsylvanian carded a disappointing 132 and 120 to start the year long tournament.
"I didn't play well. My bad shots got severely punished in the rough like everybody," Myers said. "Starting with triple bogey is not starting the day in a positive manner".
Myers is consistently in the low 60's for each side shooting 59, 61, 66, 66. "I battled as hard as I could," he said. "I battled but the quality of my golf isn't good enough and that's the bottom line. Too many fairways missed and not enough irons shots close to the green. I didn't give myself opportunities.
Richard Myers is optimistic about the upcoming Open thought. "There is a lot positives that I can take from this. I've performed poorly and it's a disappointing week, but my son says my NOOG will be adjusted accordingly. I'll be okay."
Richard Myers plans to play once more in May before heading to the Open Championship in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on June 9.
