WHEELING, WV — In his first try, JT Thomas has seen enormous success inside the 2010 Virtual Tournament. The West Virginian recently grabbed the top spot with 71.8 points per round while playing several different golf courses.

The most recent round was played last Saturday at Moundsville Country Club where Thomas birdied two holes and scored 74 points.

“I love it. This is holy ground on top,” said Thomas, whose familiarity with West Virginia golf courses has helped propel him to the top. "It is weird feeling up here. You feel like a target and everyone is coming after you."

JT is perhaps golf’s most colorful figure – and it’s not because of that beautiful golf swing. The 2010 Rookie of the Year has built an image on no sleep, late-night partying, and being happy with a quadruple-bogey.

"Very consistent," says Jay Glover. "His ability to guarantee between 87 and 93 strokes is extremely consistent and something to be proud of."

Thomas has boosted his averages to include 6.3 pars per round, 5.9 bogeys per round, and nearly 1 birdie per round.

JT grabbed the top spot over Mark Palmer of North Carolina, Pat Boland of Missouri, and John McAninch of Ohio. Thomas would be the first player from West Virginia to win the Virtual Tournament.
