Golf Silent Auction Calcutta

September 16, 2010

TERRA ALTA, WV — With the huge success of the Corn Hole Calcutta over the last few years, the Gambling Committee has decided to offer a similar calcutta for the golfing side of GXIV.  While the end result will be similar, the format for the golfing calcutta will be much different.

We are going to introduce the "Silent Auction" format for the Golfing calcutta.  For those not familiar with how a silent auction works, it's quite simple.  Upon arriving at the Wilson cabin, golfers will notice sheets of paper posted to the walls in both living rooms.  There will be 29 (thanks Panini) different golfers represented, and Loozers will have the opportunity to write down a bid for each golfer.  Loozers can bid on multiple golfers, as well as bidding multiple times on any golfer.  The Silent Auction ends at Midnight on Thursday night.

The events and payouts that are included in the Golfing Calcutta are the 2 Man Best Ball (paying 30% of the total purse) the 2 Man Scramble (paying 30% of the total purse) and the MELC winner (Paying 40% of the total purse).  For the mathematically challenged, that is a total of 5 payouts for the Golfing Calcutta.

Two side notes:

The Corn Hole calcutta will remain unchanged and will still be a live auction on Thursday night.

Any Golfer has the right to purchase 1/2 of himself back from the winning bidder.  In other words, Once the Calcutta has ended, the golfer that has been purchased may pay his purchaser 1/2 of the purchase price and own "half" of himself.  This in not negotiable.
