BARNESVILLE, PA — The Captains Club announced the registration period for the 2011 Carl Spackler Open Championship has started a full month early. The period started this morning and requires a non-refundable non-transferable deposit of $120.00 and registration of cell phone carrier.

"Let's get it on," said 2010 Champion Jeremy Myers. "It's time to stop talking about Spackler and get out the check books. Remember the ultimate deadline for entry is January 31 and final payments must be mailed prior to April 14."

The tournament details are open to the public and available online at carlspackleropen.com. Golfers can receive all details by clicking on the "tourney invite" envelope graphic located on the homepage.

The 11th annual tournament is scheduled for play 3 miles southwest of downtown Barnesville, PA. The tournament business office is expecting 70 to 90 golfers for the event.

There are several requirements for all golfers wishing to participate. "To guarantee a spot, non-refundable non-transferable deposit ($120) must be postmarked by January 31," said Myers. "The first 60 golfers are guaranteed a queen size bed. The 61st golfer and additional golfers can expect a sofa bed."

"In addition, participants are required to provide their cell phone carrier within their golfer profile. Lastly, each participant is fully responsible to read and fully understand the 'Rules of Engagement' and remember distributing verbal invitations without the 'Rules of Engagement' will most likely cause a problem."

Non-refundable non-transferable $120 deposits will be traditionally mailed to Rick Dosky and written out to Carl Spackler Open, Inc.. Golfers will be added to the event portion of the website as payment and cell phone carrier requirements are met.

"We have expectations for rookies considering their first major," says Myers. "I am providing a general list on the wall in the back of the press room."

The list read:

· He can shoot 139 strokes or less per round on average.

· He can financially commit to a 4-day golf trip 6 months in advance.

· He is not annoyed by alcohol consumption around him.

· He likes to play golf and meeting new people.

· He reads email and visits our website at least monthly for updates.

· He understands a golf trip is generally hundreds of miles from his house.

· He realizes the tournament encourages local police to place drunk golfers driving vehicles in jail.

· He can respect all members and vendors.

The 2011 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 9 with the annual practice round. Jeremy Myers signed first as the reigning champion. Greg Long and John McAninch from Ohio have also signed.
