BARNESVILLE, PA — The largest known golf trip in America, Carl Spackler Open, continues to grow in both attendance and stature. The 54-hole golf tournament announced this week the retirement of golf course tee markers and pointed towards the future Carl Spackler Open tee.

"Thank you for coming to our press conference," says the new Director of Tournament Yardage, Matt Pritchard. "The golf tournament will no longer tee from Gold, Blue, White, or Black. I am proud to announce the tournament field will tee every hole from the new Carl Spackler Open tee."

The event purchased 36 tee markers this winter to be used for each Carl Spackler Open. Golfers under the age of 50 years will continue to play forward one colored tee.

"It is a proud day to be part of the Carl Spackler Open," says Pritchard. "I am very excited about my new role and hope everyone enjoys the tournament upgrade."

"How long is the first hole on Thursday," asked a slightly confused Allan Hench? "I mean... how can I tell today how long each hole is for my mental preparations."

Pritchard replied, "Good question. The yardages are located on the website. I am providing some links in the above slide. There is a 'SPACKLER' tee on each scorecard."

"The yardage for both courses is set to the traditional 6,450," added the 8-year attendee. "Golfers above the age of 50 can move up one color, which will include two holes from the red tee."

Holes 3, 5, 6, 12, 15, and 16 of the Mountain course will be played from the traditional blue tee yardage. Hole 13 of the Mountain course will be played from the traditional white tee yardage.

Holes 2, 3, 4, and 6 of the Valley course will be played from the traditional blue tee yardage. Hole 12 will be played from the traditional white tee yardage.

The rest of the holes will be played from the traditional gold tee yardages.

Hench asked, "Are these yardages noted in the pairing sheet?" Pritchard replied, "Yes, but just within the two practice round pairing sheets."

The Carl Spackler Open takes another large step forward towards national exposure. "The tees look incredible," says Pritchard. "They expose the flaws with each tee box. I was surprised when they arrived and knew what was ordered. Now I want one for my front yard. The Captains Club needs to make these a participant option next year."

Matt Pritchard and his team will set the tees on Thursday morning before the 7:45AM practice round. The team will return to the Mountain course to collect the tees before setting them on the Valley course prior to the 2:15PM practice round. The team will also move them from the Valley course to the Mountain course after Round 2 on Saturday.

The 2011 Carl Spackler Open will be held in a couple of weeks in Barnesville, PA. There are 95 golfers expected to participate in the 11th annual birthday party. A tour of the oldest brewery in America is planned for Friday morning.
