WARREN, PA — As a roar came over Tanglewood Park last week, John Dick was forced to stand in the middle of the fairway to a very loud and proud crowd surrounding the #18 green. John hit a sharply cut iron that fell into the hole for birdie.
"This made the trip for me," says John. "To hole out from the fairway to a green surrounded by your friends is what it is all about." John Dick shot 98 and 39 points last Thursday finishing with birdie. John finished Round 1 in 10th place and never looked back.
John followed a great Round 1 with a more impressive Round 2 shooting 42 points and moving up 4 spots to 6th place. "The game kept getting better each day. I am already excited for the 2005 Open," said Dick with a smile. "This tournament is so awesome that I expect it to grow sharply next year. I fully expect the tournament to close a golf course for a week in June 2006. Golfers not attending this event are truely missing something special. The public is crazy to not register."
John fired the impressive rounds just after shooting 115 during the annual Wednesday practice round. His 115 converted to a low 27 points.
This was the 2nd year that John Dick started the final round inside the Top 6 and 2nd year he failed to capitalize. John slipped a record 15 spots during the final round last year. This time, he managed to score 33 points and hold on to a Top 10 finish.
