JAMESTOWN, NY — Mike Trojanowski that missed the 2001 Spring Open announced Tuesday that he'll will miss a good portion of the 2001 Carl Spackler Summer Open because he wants to spend the summer at home in Jamestown, NY with his dog and 19 year old girlfriend.   In turn, Carl Spackler has decided to release Troj from the Captain's Club effective immediately.

Trojanowski, the 2001 Spackler Oufit receiptent and the major drawcard for the tournament next year, said his girlfriend, Cindy, would be returning from college after her freshman year and needed a little personal time.   Carl was not happy with his dedication to the Open and made the correct, but stiff penalty.  "This is not about golf, it's about the jacket, the outfits, and about registration which takes minutes", said Carl.  "We have given Trojanowski the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn't see the value."

Trojanowski added, "I missed the Spring Open because I had made family commitments and I probably won't play the 2001 Summer Open because Cindy is coming back from college for the first time.  I've only got one girlfriend and there's a lot of Opens to play.

"I'm disappointed because there is no better feeling than playing in a golf tournament on courses built around your home," Trojanowski added.  "It's disappointing for a lot of people, but my friends don't come first."

Trojanowski, 31, is playing less frequently than ever but says he'll try to play a few rounds before he attempts next season to lose the Spackler Outfit.  The Captain's Club will be voting again in late August on whether Trojanowski will be banned for life from the Carl Spackler Open Championship.
