Turning 40
June 25, 2004
POWELL, OH — Okay - so Dave Stockdale must face reality - its is here - tomorrow, June 26th, he will be turning 40. "Oh my God!," said Dave Stockdale in denial. "I have a very difficult time dealing with that number - don't know why, but I just do. I never imagined that I would still feel young, energetic and shooting 100 at such an ancient milestone."
So, what have I accomplished in this time? Well, that depends on what you call an accomplishment by today's standards. I have won a fantasy football title, shot 83 at Darby Creek, never miss the Dayton 500, and still get carded at Hooters.
Stockdale fired a 101 at Royal American last weekend carding an awful 10 on the easy Par 4 #2. That 10 obviously put Stockdale in 3-digit range that has plagued his golfing career for nearly 5 years.
Dave continued, "I know that golf is just a game and 40 is just a phase - ridiculous phases, and I will get through both and continue, but tonight I will wallow in my tears and a couple of beers and wish myself a Happy Un-Birthday as I dread the approach of tomorrow."
