HERNDON, VA — With the exception of a monsterous round at the 2004 Carl Spackler Open Championship, not much more could have been expected from Andy Cohen this past spring or this summer.  This Penn State player from Virginia with a generous +23 handicap has seen his pinnacle of golf.  Cohen opened this year shooting in the 120's and scoring 30.2 points.  "That kind of golf puts you in 40th place," says Chad Long.  "He is a much better player and we saw that in his first major."

Cohen took off the entire 2002 season with kitchen pass allocation issues to consider.  His friends realed him back in for a struggling spring.  Cohen has hit only one par during the 2004 On Tour Championship.  What's worse, he did not score bogey in his last effort and that is not what you want going into your first major championship.  "That is struggling," says golfing parnter Glenn Hoffert.  "He is much better than 7 doubles, 7 triples, and 4 quads."

Cohen was shooting considerably better in 2001 when he joined the tour.  He shot in the 110's throughout the season and that was the standard he strived to see again.

Almost like a blazing fire, Cohen closed his first major with the 5th best final round performance in the 48 player field.  With that, Andy decided he liked finishing near the top and has no intentions of risking another poor effort.  "I made the Top 10 as a rookie," says Cohen.  "That says a lot even if I struggle through the On Tour Championship."  Cohen bogeyed 7 times during final round play of the 2004 Open.  "You know," said Cohen. "I hope this feeling stays for awhile because  I don't think I've had this kind of performance ever and do not plan to wakeup from this textbook dream."
