Kind of a Big Deal goes DARK!
September 8, 2015
TERRA ALTA, WV — For the last several years, the Kind of a Big Deal (KOABD) shot has been a staple at Golfapalooza. Traditionally, the shot has been taken by each loozer, sometimes 2 at a time, from 150 yards to the green on hole #2 behind Wilson lodge. The event has sometimes been a struggle to incorporate into the day due to the lack of daylight. To accommodate for this, it has been decided that the shot will move from dusk right into the heart of the night. The KOABD shot will have two significant changes this year.
1. The shot will be moved up to 100 yards.
When asked about the distance change, Brett Lyme, aka Bro, responded, "Good, now I do not have to go buy a 9 Wood for one shot."
2. The shot will now be taken in complete darkness using glow in the dark golf balls.
Grant Kassap, reigning Green Jacket holder had this to say, "At least now I will be able to see the errant shots as the approach the green."
The distance change should give more loozers that chance to at least hit the green, unlike in years past where we have only seen about 1 in 8 shots actually land on the green. Moving the shot to later in the night will also mean we will not be rushed to getting all 27 shots in before the sun goes down.
The KOABD shot is currently scheduled for Friday evening, but as always, weather permitting.
