KATY, TX — The 2018 Carl Spackler Open announced today it has begun its full option period. The individual planning period is open from February 15 to March 15 and will collect nearly 1,000 responses. A transcript from the press conference was supplied by Reuters for distribution.

"This event will be held on a single piece of property with the exception of the optional golf on Thursday and optional beach on Friday. I wanted to circle back and be very clear because of recent conversations with people. Everyone can arrive to Legends Resort and stay on the property throughout with no reason to leave. We are not telling anyone to fly into Myrtle Beach International Airport, but cars will serve no known purpose during the entire event. Lodging, drinks, clubhouse, food, restaurants, and bars are within 1/3 mile radius. It is also worth noting that a $475 Delta.com plane ticket turns into $225 (bag included) by simply opening a Sky Miles American Express card upon purchase. No strings attached if closed in the second half of 2018.

How are you getting to Myrtle Beach? Who thinks they are riding with you? Who are you riding with and what are their plans? The full event itinerary is available online. You cannot successfully complete options if you have not talked to your posse about how and when you will arrive to Myrtle Beach. The option period will remain open for changes as you get organized.

Rookies will be granted their roommate preference in almost every case. Online preferences (plural) will be requested for everyone else. Rooming lists are built to be successful for 88 golfers. Tuesday arrivals WILL room with Tuesday arrivals. Wednesday arrivals WILL room with Wednesday arrivals. No exceptions this year. Rookies must match up their arrival with their top preference. The option process will collect a detailed 'transportation schedule' for everyone. This schedule will be reviewed constantly. There are reasons for asking for this kind of information this year and it is important. Please be accurate. The pairings process and lodging arrangements cannot be started until accurate information is collected from everyone. Generating 1,200-mile car pools and sharing rides to/from the multiple airports will be another benefit to having the schedule.

This event is presently capped at 88 golfers. Legends will be packed. We have 91 paid golfers leaving 3 on the waiting list. These guys are hoping for your spot. Outstanding balances after the deadline become subject to being replaced.
