WARREN, PA — Jim English, a.k.a. Skip, overcoming his history of back nine collapses, is currently shooting an average 25-over par and 47.3 points per round.  This stellar play has earned a very big surprise first place in the 2004 On Tour Championship.

His lead over Glenn Hoffert is 0.9 points per round.

While booming long drives and staying out of trouble most of the day, Skip has steadily acquired a 27.4 handicap index and lowering scores each round.

"I am not getting the big numbers," says English.  "There is a difference between consistency, crappy, and lucky.  I was never lucky, used to be crappy, and now making a move to become a much better player."

English is playing his home courses, Cable Hollow and Blueberry Hill near Warren, PA.  "Both Hoffert and English are playing the same courses each week," says Chad Long.  "Skip is sadly mistaken if he believes this will help his chances to win the Open Championship.  Let's see what he shoots at Bavarian Hills or Pine Acres."

Behind rookie Jim English and Glenn Hoffert stands a group of players fighting for the title.  Matt Davis currently has 3rd place with Joe Caridi, Mike Lewis, and Jim Zavinksi closely behind.  Brian Long, Jason Ridgeway, Tom Fowble, and Kevin Long, Jr. round out the Top 10.
