Walters Plays 54
September 8, 2004
NEW KENSINGTON, PA — Grady Walters played 54 holes over the Labor Day holiday scoring an impressive 49, 34, and 44 points towards the 2004 On Tour Championship. In particular, he carded 36 points on the back nine of Olde Homestead near Allentown, PA.
"I started very poor", says Grady. "The hotdog at the turn was real good and relaxed me. From there, I just had focus." Grady sure did have focus after scoring 2 points on the front nine. He carded 5 bogeys and 3 pars to shoot 44 strokes on the back.
At Golden Oaks near Reading, PA, Walters made the grade on Hole 12 when he chipped in from 30 yards for birdie. "That was the pinnacle", says Walters. "It was awesome."
Grady finished his weekend with a poor 34 point effort, shooting 47-over par. "Fatigue was a factor out there," said Walters after his disappointing round. "I rarely play 36 holes in one day and just was not ready for it."
The On Tour Championship completes in less than 90 days. Grady Walters moves up to 21st place for the Championship.
