EUREKA, MO — With the start of the GXXVIII tournament only days away, final handicap calculations were conducted for both individuals and teams.

There is an accepted universal formula that is used to calculate a scramble team's handicap.  The formula for a 4-man scramble team is as follows:

Team HDCP = 20% of the lowest HDCP + 15% of 2nd lowest HDCP + 10% of 2nd highest HDCP + 5% of highest HDCP

As an example, a team is made up of a 5 HDCP, 10 HDCP, 20 HDCP and 30 HDCP.  The Team HDCP would be 6; (5 x .2) + (10 x .15) + (20 x .1) + (30 x .05)

The formula for a 3-man scramble is as follows:

Team HDCP = 25% of the lowest HDCP + 15% of 2nd lowest HDCP + 10% of highest HDCP

Once team handicaps are calculated for a round, every team's handicap is adjusted to the lowest team HDCP.  So, if the lowest team HDCP during a round is 6, then all team HDCPs are reduced by 6 strokes.  As an example, a team with an 8 HDCP would become a 2 HDCP.
