Final Set of Options begin June 14
June 12, 2025
STREETSBORO, OH — The Captains Club, the organizing body behind the 2025 Carl Spackler Open, has officially announced the release of the third and final wave of participant options, opening Saturday, June 14. This phase marks a pivotal step in tournament preparations, covering essential components such as rule confirmations, communications, mobile scoring setup, Wednesday night planning, and final transportation logistics.
Among the most significant updates is a streamlined set of golf rules. Traditionally centered around six core principles, the 2025 edition will focus on just five. “Boulder Creek Golf Club doesn’t have white stakes or out of bounds,” explained Captains Club member Jason Ridgeway. “With the course’s layout heavy on wooded areas and lateral hazards, we’re placing greater emphasis on Red Stakes and Lost Ball scenarios.”
The third and final set of participant options include:
(1) Agreement from more than 80 golfers on four essential golf rules
(2) Confirmation for attending the Welcome Player Meeting
(3) Verification of login access to the mobile scoring website
(4) Acknowledgment of the importance of day-of notifications
(5) Identification and confirmation of volunteer tournament scorers
Mobile scoring remains a top priority, with volunteers needed to input scores throughout the 54-hole event. “Each group will require a scorer for every round,” said Chad Long of the Captains Club. “These individuals are key to the integrity of the tournament and will be recognized in the 2026 Roster Worksheet.”
Participants are urged to allocate 20 minutes to complete this final set of options by the June 30 deadline. Organizers also stress the importance of entering recent scorecards to maintain handicap accuracy—a critical factor in the fairness of this handicapped event.
The third wave of participant options represents the final push in customizing and confirming details ahead of what promises to be a memorable tournament. With excitement building, the Carl Spackler Open continues its tradition of blending competitive golf with meticulous planning and participant engagement.
