Cronauer Explodes to Win
April 19, 2026
DUNNELLON, FL — The 2026 Carl Spackler Open at Juliette Falls Golf Club in Florida wrapped up this weekend, and while the field of 72 players put up a valiant fight, they were ultimately playing for second place. Chad Cronauer didn't just win; he rewrote the expectations for point production, turning in a masterful performance that combined steady ball-striking with an unprecedented scoring binge.
Cronauer’s tally was nothing short of staggering. He finished the 54-hole stretch with a total of 293 points against a gross stroke count of 238.
Cronauer’s path to the trophy was paved with high-leverage holes. He opened the tournament with a massive 97-point performance, setting a pace that few could match. After a slight "cooldown" in Round 2 with 77 points, he absolutely dismantled the course on the final day.
His Round 3 was a masterclass in efficiency; while carding a tournament-low 75 strokes, he racked up a mind-boggling 117 points. This included a phenomenal back nine where his consistency on the greens allowed him to pull away from the pack for good.
Pat Boland tied for 4th place, leaning on a very strong opening round of 101 points. Despite the stroke count rising to 90 on Friday, Boland’s ability to maximize points on his scoring holes kept him in the hunt. He closed strong with 103 points on Saturday, narrowly edging out the rest of the top five in the point aggregate.
Jean Dore tied Pat Boland to take home fourth place. Dore was the picture of early-tournament dominance, posting 103 points in Round 1. While his point production dipped slightly as the Juliette Falls greens hardened over the weekend, his total of 284 points was enough to secure a podium finish.
Matt Boland was the definition of "steady." He finished in third place while maintaining a remarkably tight point range throughout the week (97, 94, and 95 points), proving that at the Spackler Open, avoiding the "big miss" is just as important as the big birdie.
The runner up, Ryan Long, finished with the comeback story of the weekend. After a modest 87-point start, he found an extra gear, finishing with 99 and 101 points to climb into the top five.
